Label biography
The background to what later became Electric Fantastic Sound started way back in 1991 with a small operation under the name J-Axel Industrial Art & Interiör. Haunting the locals at Malmös finest alternative outlet Stadt Hamburg the founder Johan Billing peddled cassettes of industrial experiments, such as Klas Knastermus and Genetic Stress DI-source.

After a few years of travelling the galaxy with S.P.O.C.K in the mid 90's Johan revived his label ambitions with Diskodiktator.com by taking the music to the internet but being beat by the Americans at MP3.com as a powerful tool for distributing alternative music online. Diskodiktator instead became a normal group site and it wasn't until the summer of 2005 that the label Electric Fantastic Sound saw the light of day with the release of a six track CD sampler.

Early on - perhaps too early - the label deserted the physical formats and decided to concentrate on digital distribution in order to be able to release truly alternative music without the need for mass marketing, force feeding and the usual shenanigans involved with selling music to a very selective but small audience.

The mission have always been the same: to act as a springboard for alternative artists and to encourage the audience to discover these artists while at the same time giving the competition a run for their money. Electric Fantastic Sound is also well-known for being the label that releases a free annual Christmas sampler with artists on and off the label, with international guests such as Soviet, Schmoof, Hyperbubble and Tiger Baby.

Currently the label is represented in Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and the United States of America but we are always looking for new friends and talents which leads us to the next chapter...

Sending us your demo
Your carefully packaged demo should contain at least the following: a letter explaining who you are, what it is you do and why you sound like you do, a CDr of your music, your contact info and a photo. Naturally a demo that's done with some creative packaging is more likely to attract out attention... Expect a few weeks of tormented waiting before we answer you.

Select your very best songs. Usually 3 or 4 is enough to make us interested and if we feel we need to hear more - we will contact you with such a request. Sending us an album's worth of songs will without a doubt result in your demo being filed under "stuff we'll listen to later when we got time to kill".

We know your music is dear to you but so is our time. Burn your tracks on a standard CDr. We do NOT accept unrequested music files via email.

If you're doubtful if we are at all interested in your music - ask us first and we will let you know. This will save us both money and valuable time. Finally, these tips may discourage you to try but that is not the intention! We get several demos from all over the world and this is simply a way for you to make sure your demo gets our attention and that it at least meets our lowest standards and we both want that...
